A 44-year-old man has been arrested by police in Durrës after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol and performing dangerous maneuvers on the road.

According to authorities, Rezart Abazaj did not comply with officers’ orders to stop and instead attempted to flee at high speed. During the chase by the patrol unit, he collided with a police vehicle, creating tension at the scene.

After an alcohol test was conducted, it was confirmed that the 44-year-old had 1.4 mg/l of alcohol in his blood, a level indicating severe intoxication while driving.

Police also stated that Abazaj is not unknown to authorities, as he is a repeat offender with previous records for similar cases and traffic violations.

Footage from the scene shows the moment he, while trying to escape control, crashes into the police vehicle, making the situation even more dangerous.
