SERIOUS INCIDENT / Bus driver arrested after fatally hitting 46-year-old pedestrian

A serious incident occurred near the area known as “Ura e Peshkatarit” in Tirana.

A 56-year-old man, while driving a bus, fatally struck a pedestrian, 46-year-old Z.I. As a result, the 56-year-old was arrested by the police.

“N.H., 56 years old, while driving a bus near the area called ‘Ura e Peshkatarit,’ hit pedestrian Z.I., 46, who lost his life as a result of the accident,” the police statement reads.

Specialists from the Criminal Investigation Section of Police Station No. 1 referred materials to the Prosecutor’s Office regarding H.T., suspected of punching B.A. for trivial reasons.

Specialists from the Criminal Investigation Section of Police Station No. 2 referred materials to the Prosecutor’s Office regarding D.Z., suspected of punching E.N. for trivial reasons; they are also working to locate R.S., suspected of stealing a sum of money from a store.

Specialists from the Criminal Investigation Section of Police Station No. 3 referred materials to the Prosecutor’s Office regarding B.K., suspected of psychological abuse toward his spouse.

Specialists from the Criminal Investigation Section of Police Station No. 4 arrested E.B., 37, suspected of committing domestic violence toward his partner; they referred materials regarding A.Sh., suspected of threatening his former partner for trivial reasons.

Specialists from the Criminal Investigation Section of Police Station No. 6 arrested E.A., 31, suspected of committing violence against his father; they also arrested A.L., 47, L.L., 57, and R.Ç., 36, family members, who allegedly fought and hit each other for trivial reasons.

Traffic police arrested:

H.K., 24, for driving without a license;

A.M., 39, for driving under the influence;

N.H., 56, for fatally hitting pedestrian Z.I., 46, while driving a bus near “Ura e Peshkatarit”;

A.Z., 54, for driving under the influence, previously involved in a minor traffic collision causing material damage.

On 03.01.2026:

A.N., 53, was found dead without signs of violence; investigations concluded that the death was from natural causes.

B.P., 42, was found dead, suspected of hanging himself from a tree in the village of Kodër-Mëzez; he had left home on 02.01.2026.

M.T. reported a fire in the tent of his house; authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

Procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
