SERIOUS INCIDENT / Grandson reports grandfather missing, elderly man found dead in a water canal

An elderly man, who had lost contact with his family since yesterday, was found dead near a water canal in the village of Gjormë.

The report was made by his grandson, and it is suspected that the 90-year-old accidentally fell into the canal.

“Yesterday, citizen O. M. reported that his grandfather, R. M., 90, had left his home around 07:00. Police services immediately began searches, and around 06:00 today, the 90-year-old was found deceased in a water canal near his home, in the village of Gjormë.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the citizen accidentally fell into the canal. The investigative team is working to document the circumstances of the case.

Procedural materials were referred to the Lezhë Prosecutor’s Office for further action,” the police statement reads.
