SERIOUS INCIDENT / Cars collide head-on, 25-year-old killed, two injured

A serious road accident that occurred last night near the city of Laç claimed the life of a 25-year-old man and left two other people injured.

According to the Kurbin Police, the accident happened around 10:00 PM, when two vehicles collided head-on on one of the city’s road axes.

“Around 10:00 PM, in the city of Laç, the vehicle driven by citizen A.Z. collided with the vehicle driven by citizen G.Xh.,” the police announced.

As a result of the strong impact, a young man around 25 years old lost his life at the scene.

According to the police, the driver of the vehicle, citizen G.Xh., 23 years old, as well as another passenger, citizen L.F., 23 years old, were transported for medical assistance. Both young men were urgently taken to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where they are receiving the necessary medical treatment and, fortunately, are out of danger.

Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident, citizen A.Z., has been escorted by the police for further procedural actions.

“Citizen A.Z. has been escorted to the Police Station to carry out further procedural actions,” the police stated.

Immediately after the incident, police services and emergency medical teams arrived at the scene, providing first aid to the injured and carrying out the necessary investigative actions. The area was temporarily blocked to facilitate the work of the investigative team and to ensure traffic safety.

The police announced that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact causes of the accident.

“The investigative team continues its work to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident,” the statement emphasizes.

It is suspected that factors such as speed, road conditions, or an incorrect maneuver may have contributed to the fatal collision, but these remain to be clarified by the investigations.
