A serious road accident occurred at around 6:10 a.m. on Sunday on the Dukat–Orikum road, near Fushë-Dukat, leaving one person dead and five others injured.

According to preliminary information, a van transporting workers veered off the road and crashed into a roadside canal. The workers are believed to have been traveling from Tirana to the coast.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, although authorities suspect it may have been caused either by the driver falling asleep or by a possible cardiac arrest.

The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Ilir Haka. The injured include 22-year-old Saimir Haka, 44-year-old Qazim Haka, approximately 22-year-old Sako Rexha, and two other individuals.

Due to the severe damage to the van, firefighters had to cut through parts of the vehicle to rescue the injured passengers trapped inside the wreckage. The van had partially overturned into the canal.

The injured were transported by ambulance to the Regional Hospital of Vlorë for medical treatment, while the victim's body was taken to the morgue.

Meanwhile, traffic police remain at the scene and are carrying out investigative procedures to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the accident.
