SMUGGLING at Kapshtica / Arrests in Korça and Devoll!

Kapshtica / Two cases of goods smuggling uncovered; a quantity of medical drugs smuggled from Greece, freon gas cylinders, two vehicles, and a mobile phone seized.

Border Police services at the Kapshtica Crossing Point, as part of ongoing systematic checks and those based on operational police information, at the entry into the Republic of Albania:

-During a joint inspection with customs services at the second control line of a vehicle driven by citizen I. Ç., 47 years old, resident in Greece, a quantity of medical drugs without proper documentation was found.

The drugs, the vehicle, and a mobile phone were seized as material evidence. Following procedural actions, specialists from the Crime Investigation Section of DVKM Korça arrested the 47-year-old in flagrante for the criminal offense of “Smuggling of licensed goods.”

Also, at the exit from the Republic of Albania, the same services uncovered two other illegal cases:

-During a check at the second control line of a vehicle driven by citizen R. P., 45 years old, resident in the village of Sul, Devoll, and from the verification of documentation, it resulted that this citizen was driving without a license. Further actions for this case were carried out by specialists of the Road Police Sector of DVP Korça, who arrested the 45-year-old in flagrante for the criminal offense of “Irregular driving of vehicles.”

-During a joint inspection with customs services at the second control line of a vehicle driven by citizen E. K., 63 years old, resident in Korça, several freon gas cylinders (refrigerant gas) were found hidden in the trunk, undeclared to customs authorities and suspected to be smuggled.

The gas cylinders and the vehicle were seized as material evidence. Further actions were taken by specialists of the Crime Investigation Section of DVKM Korça, who referred the materials to the Prosecutor’s Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against the 63-year-old for the offense of “Smuggling of other goods.”
