Following inspections by SPAC and the NBI, 10 people have been arrested, while 2 others have been declared wanted.

New details have emerged from the inspections carried out yesterday by the Special Prosecution Office (SPAC).

It is reported that, within the framework of a joint investigation with the Italian authorities, SPAC and the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH), in cooperation with the State Police, carried out several searches last night at premises rented inside a shopping center located opposite the Orthodox Church in the center of the capital.

This business is suspected of operating as a call center and is owned by a foreign Italian citizen and an Albanian partner.

The searches at the premises located next to the High Court were conducted with the aim of finding materials or other items of value related to an investigation into fraud carried out through call centers.

Currently, as part of this operation, 10 people have been placed under arrest. Meanwhile, two individuals, the owners of the call centers, have been declared wanted. So far, six premises have been searched.

The inspections began yesterday morning at several locations, following the signing of the prosecution’s request by the Special Court.

During the searches, computers and other documentary materials were seized, which are believed to be linked to a case involving fraud against citizens of the European Union.

The case is being followed by both a foreign prosecutor and an Albanian prosecutor. In addition, during the SPAC and NBI operation, cameramen from the Italian investigative television program Le Iene were also present.

The director of the NBI, Jon Keta, was also present at the scene, underscoring the importance and sensitivity of this operation for Albania’s new justice institutions. The inspections carried out yesterday lasted several hours and were accompanied by a very strong police presence.
