The inmate dies in prison

A prisoner has died inside the premises of the Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions (IECD) in Fier.

According to sources, the deceased is the inmate Artur (Gent) Ymer Doku, also known as Sherifi. Preliminary information suggests that the death occurred due to natural causes, as he had been suffering from health problems, particularly heart-related issues.

Artur Doku was serving a 15-year prison sentence following a court decision for several serious criminal offenses. He had been convicted of “Premeditated Murder” committed in cooperation, in two cases, as well as for “Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive devices and ammunition.”

Following the incident, prison authorities and the Police have launched the necessary procedures to fully clarify the circumstances surrounding the death. Investigations are expected to determine the exact causes and the sequence of events.

Until the verification process is completed, preliminary suspicions remain linked to the inmate’s health condition.
