The investigative file reveals that a few days before the crime, the perpetrator went by car to the village of Zvirinë and performed a tire burnout in front of the victim’s uncle’s establishment before leaving.
New details have emerged regarding the killing of 14-year-old Erald Xhejo in the village of Pirg, Maliq.
According to the investigation, on the day of the incident, the victim, together with a friend, went to Pirg to get a haircut at a barber shop near the location where the killing occurred. They saw the perpetrator driving by and whistled at him to get his attention.
He stopped, got out of the car, and they began arguing, during which he drew a knife. In self-defense, the victim picked up a chair from the yard of the establishment and held it in front of his body, but as he stepped back, he tripped, and the perpetrator stabbed him at that moment. The entire incident was recorded by the security cameras of the establishment.
How did the crime in Maliq happen?
The serious incident occurred on Thursday afternoon (August 14) in the outdoor area of a local establishment in the village of Pirg. The two youths are believed to have had a previous dispute and met to resolve it. Instead of a resolution, the meeting turned into a physical confrontation, during which a knife was fatally used. The perpetrator was injured, but not by a cutting weapon.
He is suspected of having gone to the location armed with a knife and was arrested after receiving treatment in the hospital. The police have seized the phones of both minors to clarify the possible cause.
According to the police, the perpetrator and the victim had a prior conflict. The two adolescents met to resolve their issues, but argued and then confronted each other physically. The victim lost his life as a result of the knife wounds.
Outside of camera coverage, witnesses report that the suspected perpetrator is known as a “troublesome” adolescent who occasionally causes problems with his peers.
Arrested individuals in the incident
Eight people have been arrested by the Maliq police in connection with the Thursday afternoon (August 14) incident, in which 14-year-old Erald Xhejo was fatally stabbed by a peer in the outdoor area of a local establishment in the village of Pirg. Among those arrested are the 14-year-old perpetrator, his father E. G., his uncle R. G., four other minors, and 34-year-old Flori Çela.
After committing the crime, the perpetrator, who was also injured, attempted to flee in a car with the 34-year-old, who was present during the dispute.
The father and uncle of the minor are accused of actions that obstructed justice by hiding the knife used in the crime. Specifically, the uncle took the knife from the scene, washed it, and then hid it, hindering the investigation.
The minor perpetrator faces charges of intentional murder and reckless driving.
The four arrested minors were also present during the conflict and are accused of attempting to obstruct the discovery of the truth. The 34-year-old Flori Çela is charged with failing to report a crime.
