The Korça Court has eased the security measure for Leonidha Guçe and Denis Meçe, who were arrested for the murder of Eglantin Proga in Pogradec.

After 15 months in Drenovë pretrial detention, the court decided three days ago to release them from their cells and place them under “house arrest”, as the legal deadlines for their detention have expired.

Meanwhile, the Korça Prosecutor’s Office continues its investigation and is still awaiting the expert report, as part of the security camera footage appears to have been deleted.

The case had initially been sent for trial with several defendants, but after Denis Meçe’s testimony in the prosecution, it was returned for reinvestigation. Investigators now await the results of the expertise being conducted in a computer lab in Italy, in an attempt to recover the lost footage and clarify the suspects’ roles in the event.

The serious incident that occurred in August in Pogradec, where Egli Proga was killed, led to the arrest of two other individuals who are accused of “Failure to report a crime” and “Actions that obstruct the discovery of the truth.”
