A serious and concerning incident occurred on Saturday morning on the “Taulantia” promenade in Durrës, where an 8-year-old child was attacked by a pack of stray dogs that have long frequented this area, which is very popular with residents and tourists.

According to sources, the child was on the promenade with family members when he was suddenly surrounded by the dogs and bitten, experiencing moments of panic. Immediately after the incident, he was taken for medical assistance, where he received the necessary treatment and is now out of danger.

The family has filed a report with the relevant authorities, while the incident has caused great concern and indignation among citizens. Residents of the area say that the presence of stray dogs on the promenade, roads, neighborhoods, and near public institutions is a recurring and ongoing problem for which concrete solutions are lacking.

Citizens emphasize that the risk is constant, especially for children and the elderly, and are calling for urgent intervention by the Municipality of Durrës and the responsible institutions. They are appealing for immediate and long-term measures to ensure public safety and prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

This incident once again brings attention to the serious issue of managing stray dogs in the city, a problem that has remained without an effective solution for years, despite numerous complaints from the community.
