“They photographed them in hotel rooms”: Teenage girls ran a blackmail ring, with a police officer among the victims

The investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in Fier has taken a new turn after authorities uncovered what they believe was an organized blackmail and extortion scheme involving the teenage girls linked to the case.

According to investigators, the suspects allegedly targeted men by luring them into meetings at hotel rooms. Once there, accomplices would secretly photograph the victims in compromising situations, with the images later allegedly used to blackmail and extort them.

Among the alleged targets was a police officer, who is also a father of two. Investigators say he was contacted by one of the 15-year-old girls in connection with the ongoing case. She allegedly attempted to persuade him to meet her at a hotel, but the officer agreed only to meet in a public place, at a café.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the full extent of the alleged scheme, identify any additional victims, and determine the involvement of all those connected to the case.

Despite this, investigators say the conversations exchanged on social media were allegedly used by the teenagers to blackmail the officer in an attempt to pressure him into helping close the case related to the alleged assault. They reportedly threatened to publish the online messages.

As a result of his alleged involvement, the officer has been dismissed from the Albanian State Police, while the Police Oversight Agency (AMP) continues its in-depth investigation into the case.

These latest developments come as the Fier Court has revised the security measures imposed on the three arrested girls. The 19-year-old has been placed in pre-trial detention, one of the 15-year-olds has been ordered under house arrest, while the other 15-year-old has been placed under compulsory psychiatric treatment after a forensic psychiatric evaluation concluded that she suffers from mental health issues.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to examine the full scope of the alleged criminal network and the involvement of all individuals connected to the case.
