The mother of Andon Janaqi, the man suspected of killing his partner and then taking his own life in France, has reacted in shock after the tragedy. She has asked the Albanian state for help to bring her son’s body back to the country and said she had no knowledge of any conflicts that could have led them to such an extreme act.

“May the state help me bring my son’s body here. I don’t know what my son has done over there. Every household has disagreements. I spoke with my son constantly and told him to sort things out.

They argued often. He had a lot of love for her, to the point of madness. He had been in France for about four years. I don’t know why they fought, because they had no financial problems,” she recounts through tears.

According to the mother, she learned the terrible news at around 20:45 from the wife of her other son, who lives in Greece: “Flora, gather your strength, because your son has done this. He killed himself and his wife,” was the shocking phone call she received in tears.

Emotionally devastated, she says she never imagined that the couple’s arguments could lead to such a tragic end: “They had disagreements in their home, but I can’t say exactly what, because my mind is not calm. She was someone’s child, and he was mine. I don’t feel well.”

The serious incident occurred on Thursday in the “Europe” neighborhood in France. At around 16:30, a resident notified the police after hearing two gunshots at the address 101 Rue Général-Paulet. When they arrived at the scene, police found the bodies of the couple and beside them a hunting rifle, suspected to be the weapon used.

French police continue the investigation to fully clarify the circumstances, while the family in Albania waits in pain and uncertainty for the return of the young man’s body.
