Tragic accident: One young man loses his life, another injured during police chase

A tragic incident has shaken the city of Bologna in the early hours of this morning, where a young Albanian lost his life and another was injured following a fatal accident.

According to Italian authorities, the two young Albanians were traveling in an Audi that had been reported stolen when they attempted to evade a police checkpoint. The incident began when the car, stopped at a traffic light on Via Tolmino, was noticed by a police patrol. As soon as the light turned green, the driver accelerated sharply and fled, ignoring the order to stop, which prompted police to give chase.

The escape ended in tragedy at the intersection of Via Murri and Via dei Lamponi. Due to the high speed, the 19-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle, which first crashed into a lamppost and then several parked cars. The violent collision claimed the life of the 18-year-old passenger at the scene, while the driver was injured and immediately taken to hospital, where he is reported to be out of danger.

Italian authorities have not yet released the identities of the young men. According to police sources, the deceased 18-year-old had a criminal record for theft and resisting arrest, while the 19-year-old driver had no prior criminal history. Italian police continue to investigate in order to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and determine legal responsibilities.
