World Cup 2026, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is already shaping up to be the most profitable in history, and FIFA doesn’t intend to stop at ticket sales alone.

According to The Athletic, the global football governing body has found a new revenue source: parking. By launching its official website dedicated to parking reservations for ticket holders, FIFA is setting prices that are sparking outrage.

Parking can cost up to $175 (151 euros) for a semifinal or third-place match, and $75 (65 euros) for a standard group-stage game, particularly at AT&T Stadium in Texas.

FIFA recognizes that having a car is essential in the United States.

These prices sometimes exceed those of certain 2022 World Cup match tickets, where a Category 3 group-stage ticket cost less.

Organizers plan to apply this pricing structure at several of the 16 tournament stadiums, most of which are NFL stadiums surrounded by large parking lots, a true advantage for maximizing profit per square meter.

With this strategy, FIFA expects American fans to rely heavily on cars, as public transportation is often insufficient in these large cities.

However, access to stadiums could become a real headache: between security zones, reserved areas, and limited available spaces, fans will need to be prepared to be patient, or have deep pockets.
