The protest organized a day earlier by the Democratic Party was accompanied by incidents and police intervention, leading to the escorting of 52 individuals.
According to the official statement, 17 of them were arrested, while criminal proceedings have been initiated against 35 others who remain at liberty.
The opposition rally, called as part of its political action against the government, began with speeches and political slogans from Democratic Party leaders. After the speech of the party leader, clashes were recorded between a group of protesters and law enforcement officers.
According to the police, hard objects and pyrotechnic devices were thrown at officers, and there were attempts to break through the security cordon. As a result, several police officers were injured.
Incidents were also reported near the Namazgjasë Mosque area, where material damage was recorded.
Police stated that the arrests were made for various criminal offenses, including resisting police officers, disturbing public order and security, and damaging property.
Up to the time of publication, the Democratic Party had not issued a detailed reaction regarding the number of escorts and arrests, while earlier it had accused the police of excessive use of force. Investigations to identify other individuals involved in the incidents are ongoing.
