The Lezhë Court found Simon Gjoka, 38, resident of Milot, guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison. He was initially arrested for a series of cattle thefts in the Gajush area. During the investigation, authorities uncovered serious evidence that led to a second charge: sexual relations with a minor.
The prosecution sought an 18-year sentence, but Gjoka received a reduced sentence due to a shortened trial procedure, resulting in 12 years of imprisonment. He was convicted of two crimes: “Theft committed in collaboration” and “Sexual relations with a minor.”
Investigators found compromising evidence during Gjoka’s phone taps, revealing communication with a 13-year-old girl. The minor was questioned in the presence of a psychologist and her mother, admitting to having a relationship with the adult, claiming it happened “consensually.” She also stated that he introduced her to other people, raising suspicions of involvement in exploitation for prostitution—a lead that remains open. Intimate photos sent to Gjoka were also found on her phone.
The investigation revealed that Gjoka had a friendly relationship with the minor’s mother, a woman selling candles near the Shna Ndou Church in Laç, which allegedly facilitated his access to the girl.
Despite his repeated denials during the trial, the Lezhë Court confirmed his guilt and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
Police and prosecutors continue to investigate other possible theft cases in surrounding areas in which Gjoka is suspected to have been involved.
