Today, Ersekë commemorates the 81st anniversary of its Liberation, a day that is not just a date on the calendar, but a symbol of our resilience, sacrifice, and historical pride. It is the day we honor with deep respect and gratitude the men and women who raised their voices, their weapons, and their spirits against the occupiers, sealing with blood and determination the freedom of one of Albania’s most illustrious regions.
Eighty-one years ago, Kolonja showed that it would not compromise with injustice nor turn a blind eye to wrongdoing. With great courage and rare bravery, its sons and daughters stood against an occupying force to defend what is most sacred: their homeland, dignity, and future.
Kolonja has not only been a participant in the country’s history it has been a leader at key moments. From the struggle for independence, to the anti-fascist resistance, and to the building of a fairer and more open society, this region has always chosen the right side of history. Today, it remains a symbol of resilience, values, and civic dedication.
This anniversary is a moment for reflection, but also a call to action: to never forget what was gained through so much effort and sacrifice. It is a call for future generations to keep the memory alive and continue the noble path of those who gave everything for freedom.
Glory to the martyrs of Ersekë and all of Albania!
Honor to the generations who brought freedom!
Happy 81st anniversary of the Liberation of Ersekë!
