In Pogradec, a café has decided to ban entry to anyone under the age of 18, even though this results in financial loss.

The decision by the owner, Armand Hoxha, aims to raise awareness and protect students who attend the nearby high school.

Psychologists have praised the initiative, calling for it to be adopted in other cities across the country.

“No entry for persons under 18” might seem like an extreme move for a business whose purpose is to maximize profit.

But this risk has been taken by Armand Hoxha, a café owner in Pogradec whose establishment is located right next to the city’s high school.

This decision does bring economic loss to the café, but for its management, the message is more important than the lost income.

“This affects the café financially because every customer translates into revenue, but we believe it’s better to have an empty café than an empty school. We’re raising awareness among other café owners who are parents themselves,” he said.

Psychologists have welcomed and praised the decision.

“In my opinion, this initiative is very positive in terms of its impact on the community. Why is it so positive? First of all, it protects the best interests of children. During school hours, all students should remain within educational environments and not drift elsewhere.”

The café manager says this initiative should spread to other cities as well, in order to send a clear message.
