The passing of Dr. Ahmet Hoxhallari has left a great void not only in his family and close circle, but also in the entire Korçë community. His dedication, humanity, and honesty made him one of the most beloved and respected figures in Albanian medicine.
Born and raised in the city of Korçë, Ahmet Hoxhallari devoted his life to the medical profession. After completing his higher studies in Medicine and specializing as a surgeon, he served for decades at the Korçë Regional Hospital, where many remember him as the tireless doctor, always ready to help, regardless of the hour or day.
With skilled hands and a big heart, he saved lives, gave hope, and supported patients and entire families quietly and without seeking recognition. Simply put, as great people do. He was a quiet man, yet he had a profound impact on everyone who had the fortune of knowing him up close.
For his extraordinary work and contributions, he was honored with the title “Honorary Citizen of Korçë,” an accolade few have received with such dignity and modesty. He never sought fame; it found him through his honest work and life full of values.
Ahmet was also a good friend, with subtle humor, always calm and understanding. He connected people, listened without judgment, and stood by them in difficult times. Colleagues describe him as an example of professionalism, dedication, and ethics, while friends remember him as a man who kept his word and shared his heart.
His departure is a great loss. But his legacy remains. His memory will live on in those he helped, in those whose lives he saved, and in those who witnessed what it truly means to be a doctor, a citizen, and a genuine human being.
Rest in peace, Ahmet.
Your city, your people, and those who loved you will never forget you.
