FOOD SCANDAL / 738 kilograms of chicken meat blocked for being unsafe for consumption

Food safety continues to be a challenge for Albanian businesses. Just a few hours ago, inspectors from AKU Tirana blocked 738 kg of chicken fillets and breasts near the KMY business in Tirana.

As seen on screen, the chicken meat during the freezing and thawing process was placed on the floor, and its storage was near an area with mold and rust presence.

If this product had not been blocked by food inspectors, it would have reached consumers’ tables as “safe” meat. For this reason, AKU Tirana suspended the activities of KMY until proper hygiene and sanitary conditions are met.

Another action was carried out at the food business operator “Bonum,” where the conditions of the dairy production area were below hygiene standards, with walls affected by moisture and mold. AKU imposed an administrative fine of 300,000 Albanian lek and blocked the product.

Following these interventions, the KMY chicken products and Bonum cheese will be destroyed. During the inspection at Bonum, AKU blocked around 329 kilograms of white goat cheese, which was stored in these unsanitary conditions.
