Albanian children have generally developed the habit of eating breakfast before going to school, but 25% of them often skip what is considered the most important meal of the day.
A study conducted by the Institute of Public Health shows that children who do not eat breakfast are at greater risk of being overweight or obese. The report, which measures healthy behaviors of school-aged children across Europe, ranks Albania among the top countries for fruit and vegetable consumption among youngsters.
Specialists explain that maintaining healthy habits such as proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and spending less time in front of screens helps reduce obesity and excess weight, which have become a global challenge.
According to the latest data, 1 in 10 children aged 5 to 19 lives with obesity, facing serious health risks such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and certain types of cancer.
