Italian police in Udine have stopped five fans of the French team Paris Saint-Germain, who were found with suspected dangerous items in their vehicle while attempting to reach the stadium for an important match.
During a routine check at a highway toll point, law enforcement stopped the French-registered car, discovering an iron rod, a pair of steel balls, fireworks, and a can of black spray paint. All five individuals were detained and charged but released on bail. They were not allowed to enter the stadium or attend the match.
This incident occurred as part of strict security measures implemented by Italian authorities to prevent disturbances during the game. In total, over 1,500 security personnel including police, carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, and local police were deployed from August 12 to 14, with around 1,000 officers present just one day before the match.
During additional checks, local police confiscated more than 500 beer bottles and fined seven Italian citizens over €2,500 each for illegal trading. Nevertheless, despite the large flow of fans and a full stadium, the match day concluded without further incidents.
