The weather situation in the country remains concerning. Despite a reduction in rainfall during today, specialist Anira Gjoni from the Institute of Geosciences said that late in the evening, heavy rainfall will return in several districts.
“The districts of Vlorë and Gjirokastër will see intensive rainfall, locally very heavy, while in the districts of Shkodër, Korçë, and Berat, the rain is expected to be moderate and locally heavy. In the rest of the districts, rainfall is expected to be moderate. In all districts, it will be accompanied by storms,” said Anira Gjoni.
According to the Institute of Geosciences, the situation remains alarming in the Vjosë area because rainfall will continue throughout Friday.
“Due to the increased intensity of the rain, both Gjirokastër and Vlorë remain at high risk. As for the Vjosë River, it is at risk of overflowing since its flow and levels are continuously rising. The Seman and Shkumbin rivers are also problematic, as the heavy rainfall over the past three days has increased the risk of rising water levels,” she added.
Forecasts indicate that temperatures will drop over the weekend, bringing snowfall in the north.
“Over the weekend, a cold front is expected to pass through the country, causing a sharp drop in temperatures. In mountainous areas, temperatures may reach -3°C. On Saturday evening and Sunday morning, snowfall is expected in the mountains, especially in the Alps, at altitudes above 1,000 meters, including Thethi and the northeast of the country,” she told TV Klan.
Experts note that November is the wettest month of the year, accounting for about 70% of annual rainfall.
“The presence of rain this November is normal for this month. What has been abnormal is the lack of rain earlier,” the specialist concluded.
Until the end of November, rainfall will continue across the country, but with lower intensity.
