The Border Police have intensified inspections to prevent, detect, and combat legal violations in the transport of small livestock.
As a result of increased controls enforcing the Minister of Agriculture's order temporarily banning the movement of small livestock, an illegal transport case was uncovered.
During a check in the village of Barmash, in the Ersekë area, police found a vehicle transporting 410 small livestock from Konispol.
Following the investigation, specialists from the Crime Investigation Department of the Korçë Local Police Directorate referred the case to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against A. Sh. (58), D. L. (53), M. N. (53), and S. I. (57), residents of Sarandë and Korçë, who are veterinarians responsible for enforcing Order No. 575, dated June 9, 2025, from the Ministry of Agriculture, which temporarily prohibits the movement of live goats and sheep within the territory of the Republic of Albania.
They are being prosecuted for “Abuse of Duty” for failing to take the necessary measures to enforce this order.
