During checks carried out at the women’s prison in Pogradec, several prohibited items were found and confiscated, including vibrators. Sources say the items were discovered during routine inspections conducted by the institution’s administration.

The prison in the village of Pojskë, near Pogradec, is a relatively new facility, opened in 2024 as part of efforts to modernize the country’s penitentiary system. Women prisoners and detainees who were previously held in the “Ali Demi” prison in Tirana have been transferred to this institution.

Currently, fewer than 100 women are held in this prison. The facility is considered to be of standard security level and offers improved conditions, in line with new standards for the treatment and accommodation of convicted persons.
