The Transparency Board has once again changed fuel prices. As the Board itself announced, the price of diesel has been reduced by 3 lek per liter, now being sold at 203 lek per liter, down from 206 lek per liter following the previous decision.

Board announcement:

On April 29, 2026, in its latest meeting, the Transparency Board decided:

The retail price of diesel (standard SSH EN 590) shall be no more than 203 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 191 lek/liter.

The retail price of petrol (gasoline, SSH EN standard) shall be no more than 180 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 168 lek/liter.

The set prices will come into force today, April 29 at 11:30 and will remain valid until the next board meeting, when any price changes will be reflected.

We draw the attention of all wholesale and retail operators of petroleum products to the obligation to comply with this decision. In case of violations, the suspension of activity will be imposed.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and maintaining the principles of fair competition in the market.

CLARIFICATION: According to Normative Act No. 1, dated 3.4.2026, “On an amendment to Law No. 61/2012, ‘On Excise Duties in the Republic of Albania,’ as amended,” it is provided that if the retail price of diesel exceeds 220 lek/liter, or petrol exceeds 200 lek/liter, a reduced excise rate of 80% is applied. Based on the methodology for calculating maximum retail prices, current prices are below the threshold set by the Normative Act No. 1, dated 3.4.2026, and therefore the full excise rate of 100% will be applied.
