Another case of failure to declare cash at the border has been uncovered.

A 67-year-old man was caught at the exit of the Kapshticë Border Crossing Point after attempting to bring in 38,000 US dollars hidden on his body, and criminal proceedings have been initiated against him.

During a search of the 67-year-old’s residence, specialists from the Crime Investigation Section of the Korçë DVKM also found and seized 35,000 euros.

The holder of the sums in dollars and euros is being criminally prosecuted.

Services of the Crime Investigation Section of the Korçë DVKM, continuing their work to prevent and crack down on illegality, and based on operational information, stopped for inspection a vehicle driven by citizen Gj. F. near the Kapshticë Border Police Station.

During a physical search, officers found 38,000 undeclared US dollars hidden on his body.

Subsequently, during a search of his residence, 35,000 euros were also found. The monetary amounts were seized as material evidence.

At the conclusion of the actions, materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office against citizen Gj. F., 67 years old, resident of Korçë, for the criminal offenses of “Failure to declare cash and valuables at the border” and “Laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity.”

The procedural materials were forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Korçë for further actions.
