At the Orthodox Cathedral of the “Resurrection of Christ,” the Divine Liturgy was celebrated for the Birth of Christ.

The Holy Mass was led by the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and all Albania, His Beatitude Archbishop Joan, together with clergy from the archbishopric.

During his sermon, Archbishop Joan emphasized that only the presence of God can illuminate our hearts and souls, bringing light and joy into our lives. He highlighted that the Incarnation is the greatest gift humanity can receive.

“The Incarnation is the greatest gift humanity can receive. Christ strengthens and revitalizes our nature and unites us with God in a way that no teacher or prophet ever could. Dear brothers and sisters! We must joyfully proclaim this good news and tirelessly witness that God now dwells among us.

It is the duty of every Christian to spread and share this light with the whole world, because only by sharing it with others can the light be preserved and grow; otherwise, it will fade and eventually disappear. Now, more than ever, the world needs the light of Christ. It is essential, because a life without God’s presence becomes miserable a life without love, joy, or light: a life in darkness.

Only His presence can illuminate our hearts and souls, giving our lives light and joy. He is the light in our darkness, and His teaching, as the psalmist says, is a lamp for our journey through life. To spiritually celebrate the Birth of Christ, let us take care during these festive days to experience more deeply the holiness and greatness of this divine gift.

We can achieve this by cleansing our hearts of all evil and filling them with love and humility toward all people, especially those in need in poverty, illness, despair, and loneliness. Merry Christmas and many happy years,” he said.
