The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, announced that starting this Friday, the Inspectorate for Territorial Control and Protection (IKMT) will begin enforcement actions to clear public spaces along national roads. Businesses had been given a deadline until July 31 to clear these spaces voluntarily.
Balluku stated that during the past eight days, a counseling campaign was conducted by the Road Authority (ARRSH) and ITCP, highlighting concrete cases of cooperation from various entities. She gave an example on the Kombinat-Plepa road axis, where a business has withdrawn and respected the required distance from the national road, as well as aesthetically arranged the area of operation.
She further emphasized that from this moment, IKMT, supported by the State Police, will take concrete measures to enforce the respect of distances from national roads. What is happening now across Albanian territory is not an action against tents, as some claim, but a deep reform to free up public spaces and enforce the laws protecting the territory of the Republic of Albania.
This reform does not overlook tents, shared courtyards of apartment buildings illegally occupied and converted into parking lots, or TECs (small power plants) built unlawfully in settlement areas, despite absurd denials of their existence or even more absurd protection by paid segments aimed at harming public interest.
Balluku thanked citizens who cooperated excellently during this period and encouraged them to continue reporting violations.
