Earthquake tremors in several areas of Albania after midnight
Two earthquakes, with magnitudes 3.9 and 4.0 on the Richter scale, were recorded at around 00:58 and 00:59, with the epicenter near Çorovoda, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The tremors were felt in several cities such as Elbasan, Berat and the areas around Skrapar.
With a depth of only 2.5 km, it was a shallow earthquake, which makes it more noticeable.
They lasted a few seconds and caused concern among residents, but no material damage or casualties have been reported.
Experts explain that shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly, even when the magnitude is moderate.
