Expert analysis: here’s what is suspected to have caused the accident in Lezhë where a married couple lost their lives

Moisture on the road is suspected to have caused the accident that resulted in the death of a married couple on January 2 in Lezhë. This is the conclusion of the preliminary expert analysis.

The Mercedes vehicle in which Petrit and Elona Florini were traveling skidded and turned sideways on the road, leading to a collision with a Porsche vehicle. The couple lost their lives, while two people from the other vehicle were injured.

Police sources initially stated that the cause of the accident may have been the slippery road conditions due to precipitation in the form of hail, but experts from Tirana will determine the exact circumstances under which the fatal accident occurred.

Meanwhile, regarding the accident with three victims along the Gjirokastër–Tepelenë road segment, there is still no official expert report. Preliminary investigations are focusing on the speed at which the vehicles were traveling on a road where the maximum speed limit is 80 km/h.

The beginning of the year in our country was marked by 9 road accidents, with a fatal toll of 5 victims and 11 injured persons.
