Since the beginning of this month, our country has been affected by continuous rainfall, and according to forecasts, unstable weather conditions will continue in the coming weeks.

Invited to a television program, Anira Gjoni from the Institute of Geosciences stated that February is ending with temperatures above the long-term average, while rainfall will remain present almost throughout the entire week.

“Even this year, February is recording temperatures above the long-term average. We will continue to have rainfall throughout this week. For today and tomorrow, we expect moderate to heavy rainfall in the counties of Shkodër, Dibër, Lezhë, Durrës, Tiranë, Vlorë, Gjirokastër, and Elbasan,” Gjoni said.

According to her, Wednesday will bring a temporary interruption of rainfall and a drop in temperatures, but the situation will change again later in the week.

“Wednesday will bring a pause in rainfall and lower temperatures. During these two days, at elevations above 600 meters above sea level, we will have snowfall in the Alps and in eastern areas. Thursday will bring back rainfall across all counties. The final week of precipitation will end in this way. It will be the month of March that brings an interruption of rainfall, and what can be considered good news is the return of sunshine,” Gjoni emphasized.

As for tomorrow’s temperatures, they are forecast at 9–10°C in coastal areas, 6–9°C in lowland areas, and -1 to 4°C in mountainous areas.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, minimum temperatures in mountainous regions are expected to drop to -5°C, which, according to Gjoni, will lead to icy conditions on roads. For this reason, drivers are advised to exercise increased caution while traveling.
