The news of Zyhdi Pepa’s passing was announced by the head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, who expressed his condolences to Pepa’s family.
“On behalf of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, I extended today my condolences to the family of our friend and professor Zyhdi Pepa, who has passed away. Zyhdi Pepa represented the Socialist Party as a deputy in two legislatures and also served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture. Rest in peace, professor,” Balla wrote in his message.
Zyhdi Pepa served as Minister of Agriculture from 1991 to 1992, during a challenging period of transition when agriculture was one of the most sensitive and vital sectors of Albania’s economy. His mandate coincided with the first processes of economic reform, land privatization, and the reorganization of state institutions following the fall of the communist regime.
During the same period, Pepa also held the position of Deputy Prime Minister, being part of the government tasked with managing the political and institutional transition of the country.
He served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture in the governments initially led by Ylli Bufi and later by Vilson Ahmeti, contributing to one of the most important phases in Albania’s modern political history.
