If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be a bank employee asking for your card details or other personal information, do not provide them—even if the bank’s name or logo appears on your phone screen.
It could be an attempt to scam you and access your accounts. The warning comes from the National Cyber Security Authority.
“We have received reports from various citizens about calls made electronically, using online platforms, and gathering information from sources like Gmail, social media, Instagram, Facebook, or others. They also use bank logos to appear legitimate and may speak in foreign languages, pretending to be employees of international banks to make the call more convincing,” said the expert.
Specialists urge citizens to remain vigilant and report such cases to their bank.
“Banks never request personal information, credentials, or security codes over the phone. You must verify any contacts you receive from banks, as official banks in Albania communicate through official channels. Check previous communications to confirm legitimacy, and if you notice anything suspicious, report it immediately to the bank’s contact points,” he added.
The calls are made over the internet, and according to specialists, the caller’s true identity cannot be verified through online platform addresses. Therefore, their advice is clear: do not share any information and immediately end the call.
