The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, has announced that in today’s government meeting a compensation of 50 lekë per liter of fuel has been approved for all urban and intercity public transport companies.

“In today’s government meeting we passed several acts, but I will focus on an important measure taken within the framework of subsidy policies that the Albanian government has implemented during the hydrocarbon crisis. This concerns the subsidy measure for urban, intercity, and suburban transport.

A month ago, we met with transport associations and heard their concerns. At that time, we promised that we would introduce a subsidy measure similar to the one we had in 2022.

Today we have approved it: a compensation of 50 lekë per liter for all public transport companies, urban, intercity, and suburban. This measure will start in March,” said the minister.

He further added that with this decision, the government aims to support public transport operators and fulfill its commitments to help cover costs caused by rising fuel prices.
