Icon thieves caught in police net – one arrested and one under investigation in Korçë

In the city of Korçë, an art theft led to the arrest of a young man and the criminal prosecution of another. Crime Investigation Specialists at the Korçë Police Station arrested 22-year-old D. H. in the act and have initiated criminal proceedings against 19-year-old F. Ç., both residents of Korçë.

According to official sources, the two youths are suspected of collaborating to steal a painting belonging to citizen Gj. Th. The artwork was displayed for sale near his residence when the suspects took advantage of the moment to unlawfully take it.

Police intervened immediately, managing to catch one of the perpetrators red-handed and promptly began procedural actions to fully clarify the incident. The artwork was seized and is expected to be returned to its rightful owner.

Investigations continue to determine the full circumstances of the case and to verify if the youths may have been involved in other similar incidents. Police have also appealed for vigilance from citizens and cooperation in reporting any suspicious activity.
