Incident: Driver hits group of children, injuries and panic

A serious incident occurred on Thursday midday in Berlin, where a vehicle struck a group of people who were on the sidewalk, most of them children.

The incident happened at around 13:10 on Seestrasse, in the Berlin-Wedding area, northwest of the city center. According to preliminary reports, some of the children sustained minor injuries, while an accompanying adult was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital.

German authorities confirmed that the driver of the vehicle was immediately detained at the scene and is being questioned by police. Emergency services, including several ambulances and fire trucks, quickly arrived at the scene.

Police are investigating the causes of the incident. So far, the main line of inquiry is that it was an accident, but authorities have not ruled out other possibilities until the full investigation is completed.
