Following awareness measures to maintain public peace during the summer tourist season, the Korçë Local Police Directorate has organized informational meetings with administrators and owners of businesses operating in tourist areas, especially those generating noise from music.
Alongside this awareness campaign, the implementation of a plan of measures to ensure safety and public order during the summer season has also begun. Public security structures have organized inspection teams on the ground, based on mapping of zones with high noise pollution.
During inspections, noise level meters were used to verify premises and businesses operating in tourist areas, both open and closed, aiming to ensure compliance with the legally allowed noise levels according to Law No. 9774, dated 12.07.2007 “On the management of environmental noise,” as amended. Measurements were conducted following standard procedures for acoustic pollution control.
Administrative measures for businesses found violating these norms range from 200,000 to 400,000 Albanian lek. In case of repeat offenses, suspension of activity is also foreseen.
As a result of inspections so far, three businesses have been identified operating in violation of noise regulations. Administrative fines of 200,000 lek each have been imposed on them.
In addition to measuring noise levels, responsible structures have also checked compliance with the permitted music hours in open environments within residential areas or zones, which are from 11:00 AM to midnight.
The State Police calls on all citizens and businesses to contribute to a peaceful and safe tourist season, respecting the law and the community.
