According to Greek police, the shooter was Gentian Çipi, identified as the leader of a criminal group involved in drug trafficking and violent acts.
Greek police dismantled a criminal group in Thessaloniki, responsible for an armed attack in the city, while also suspected of running a drug trafficking route between Albania and Greece.
Gentian Çipi, 39 years old, with prior criminal records in Albania, Enea Basholli, 30 years old, and Kleo Topa, 23 years old, all from Korça, were arrested by Greek police.
They are suspected of opening fire in the early hours of September 3rd in the Pilaia area of Thessaloniki, outside a winery, attempting to kill a 25-year-old Greek man. The victim was seriously injured, sustaining wounds to the chest and hand.
At the crime scene, police found three shell casings. According to investigators, Gentian Çipi was the shooter. He is considered the head of the criminal group engaged in drug trafficking and violent activities. After the attack, the three suspects fled in a vehicle owned by Enea Basholli.
During the operation to arrest them in Thessaloniki, Çipi and Topa disobeyed police orders, sped up the vehicle, and carried out dangerous maneuvers, crashing into a police car. They abandoned the car and tried to escape on foot but were later caught. A few hours later, in the Halkidiki area, Enea Basholli was also arrested.
During the police searches, officers seized one Kalashnikov with 30 rounds, three pistols, a silencer, around 31 kilograms of marijuana, a fake passport, a fake driver’s license, €23,350 in cash, mobile phones, and three vehicles.
