LATEST/ 2 illegal gambling venues in Neighborhood 8. One person arrested and 2 criminal proceedings initiated

Inspections continue across the Korçë district to detect and combat illegal gambling activities.

Two additional cases of this activity were uncovered, following the police operation codenamed “Qarku,” conducted 4 days ago.

The owner of a venue was arrested, and a 26-year-old employee, hired illegally, is facing criminal charges for organizing gambling activities in the venue.

Another individual is also facing criminal charges for participating in this illegal activity.

Three mobile phones were seized as evidence.

Based on information obtained through operational channels and following the “Qarku” police operation, Korçë Police Department services discovered two venues in Neighborhood 8 in the city where gambling activities were taking place.

Following procedural actions for these cases:

L. Dh., 32, resident of Korçë and owner of one of the venues where gambling activities were organized, was arrested on the spot for the criminal offenses of “Organizing or conducting gambling activities contrary to the law,” “Making venues available for gambling,” and “Illegal employment.”

M. S., 26, resident of Korçë and illegally employed at L. Dh.’s venue, is facing criminal proceedings for “Organizing or conducting gambling activities contrary to the law” while being investigated in a non-custodial status.

During the inspection of the mobile phones of these two individuals, active sports betting pages were found.

Additionally, H. L., 30, resident of Korçë, is facing criminal proceedings for “Organizing or conducting gambling activities contrary to the law” after active sports betting pages were found on his mobile phone while at the venue.

The three mobile phones were seized as material evidence.

All procedural materials have been referred to the Korçë Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
