Albania’s national team coach, Sylvinho, announced today the list of 27 players called up for the June matches—on the 7th against Serbia and on the 10th against Latvia.
Appearing before the media, he answered all journalists' questions regarding new faces, returning players, and notable absences.
On the squad list and players’ condition:
“This is a very difficult and unique moment in the FIFA calendar. Players are finishing their club seasons, and we have to see how they arrive. Some are extremely tired, others less so, depending on how much they've played. Some have already been on vacation for days—not necessarily our own players, but still.
It’s a special moment. We have names, but also players who have been resting for up to 20 days. We need to work hard in the 10 days we have—this period is crucial for proper preparation.”
On the Serbia match and the emotions surrounding it:
“These are two very important games. Both opponents are physically strong, and we will need to spend a lot of energy. All 27 players will be vital—the first message is that we need everyone.
Both matches will be demanding. Let’s focus first on the Serbia game—it’s not a normal match. I know that, I understand the history.
But we have to stay focused on the game itself. We need to perform well, to fight as a team, with heart and spirit, without losing our identity. We go out there to play football. That’s who we are. I agree—it’s a tough match and must be well prepared, but we have our chances.”
