New details have emerged regarding the arrest of the prison officer at Drenova Prison, who was detained following months of surveillance and investigation by the Prosecution. It has been learned that the authorities seized a total of four mobile phones, all iPhone models.

According to reports, the phones belonged to Orgest Bilbili, Anterio Kaloshi, and Laert Haxhiu. They are now being held in isolation.

It is worth recalling that the Operational Forces of the General Directorate of Prisons caught Laert Haxhiu yesterday in possession of a phone inside the prison. Following this discovery, authorities placed him in isolation.

Haxhiu was arrested in Greece in May 2023.

He had been an opponent of Aldo Bare, the former leader of the Lushnja gang, and was sentenced to life imprisonment for the Lushnja massacre in 2017, in which Zamir Latifi, a friend of Bare, and Jurgen Hoxha were killed.

Haxhiu's associates, Anterio Kaloshi and Orgest Bilbili, had previously also been sentenced to life imprisonment for their involvement in the Lushnja massacre.

In 2017, the Lushnja Court sentenced Haxhiu to 18 years in prison for the criminal offenses of "Murder under other qualifying circumstances" (attempted) and "Illegal possession and manufacture of weapons, explosive weapons, and ammunition." On September 25, 2016, Laert Haxhiu shot and injured citizens Xh. Sh. and S. Xh.

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime later sentenced him to life imprisonment for the offenses of "Structured criminal group," "Commission of criminal offenses by a criminal organization or structured criminal group," "Murder under other qualifying circumstances," "Illegal possession and manufacture of weapons, explosive weapons, and ammunition," and "Disturbance of public order." He was extradited to Albania in July 2024.
