Prime Minister Edi Rama has outlined the categories that will benefit from salary increases starting next year.
He said that salary increases, according to categories, will affect teachers, the public administration, police officers, doctors, and nurses.
“The average salary is 850 euros. For the first time, we will introduce salary indexation every two years in the administration, to support the rise in living standards and to assist employees with low incomes. Thus, as follows: 10,500 service employees will receive a salary increase of 10,000 lek, specialists 5,000 lek, teachers 3,000 lek, and for doctors, seniority-based pay will begin.
We will raise nurses’ salaries to 92,500 lek. In addition to indexation, we will increase salaries for police employees by 5,000 lek, as well as for commissioners and deputy commissioners. There is talk about taxes and fiscal burden, but I want to add that for big businesses, we are the country where those who earn more are taxed more,” he said.
