Operation “Opportunity” concluded: 36-year-old arrested for allegedly drugging elderly couple and stealing money from their home

The Librazhd Police have concluded the police operation codenamed “Opportunity,” carried out in cooperation with the Section for Investigation of Crimes Against Persons of the Elbasan Police Directorate and under the direction of the Elbasan Prosecutor’s Office.

As a result of swift investigative actions, citizen I. K., 36, was arrested. He is suspected of having administered a high dose of a sedative (suspected to be Valium) to an elderly couple, his relatives, causing them serious health complications. He is then suspected of stealing a sum of money from their home.

The couple was initially taken to the Librazhd hospital and later transferred to QSUT, where they remain under medical care and are out of life-threatening danger.

During the operation, the police seized the stolen money and a mobile phone, both suspected to be material evidence.

The procedural materials have been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Elbasan Court of First Instance for further action.
