Doctors are urging extra caution during the holidays, highlighting the risks from accidents, alcohol, and fireworks. Hospitals will be on full alert to handle any emergencies.

As citizens prepare to celebrate the New Year, doctors at the University Trauma Hospital are calling for heightened care in traffic, alcohol consumption, and the use of pyrotechnics.

In a video message published by the Ministry of Health, medical staff emphasized that every year during the holidays, the number of traumas, road accidents, and serious injuries caused by fireworks rises significantly.

Ervin Sulaj, Head of the Anesthesia-Reanimation Service, urged citizens to be more responsible while driving.

Similarly, Agustin Suma, Head of the Emergency Department, noted that trauma and emergency services are on 24-hour standby to assist the public.

Eye injuries are also a major concern. Ophthalmologist Leodita Gjana warned about the dangers of careless use of fireworks.

In this context, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare announced that hospitals and emergency services will be fully operational during the festive days, especially on December 31 and January 1–2.
