A sad news has touched the medical community and thousands of Albanian families. The well-known neonatologist Edi Tushe has passed away, one of the most respected figures of Albanian medicine and one of the pioneers of the country’s neonatology service.
For decades, Dr. Tushe stood by generations of Albanian children and parents, becoming a beloved and trusted name in newborn care. Through his professionalism, dedication, and humanity, he earned the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of thousands of families.
In addition to his work as a pediatrician and neonatologist, he played an important role in founding and developing neonatology services in Albania. He also made a valuable contribution to training new generations of doctors, serving as a lecturer and sharing his professional experience over the years.
The news of his passing was made public by a close friend and colleague, who, in a moving message, remembered him as a rare person, a dear friend, and an exceptional professional who dedicated his life to caring for children.
“There are departures that leave you breathless. There are losses that cannot be accepted. And there are people who are so good, so beloved, so irreplaceable, that it seems unfair for God to call them so early.
Edi was one of them.
I am not only mourning a colleague. I am not only mourning an excellent doctor. I am mourning a dear friend, a rare person, a beautiful soul who made the world better just by being present.
Whenever I saw him in the clinic, it felt like everything became easier. He had that calmness of good people, that gentle smile that gave you confidence, that kindness that didn’t need to speak loudly to be felt.
Today his desk remains empty. The stethoscope is silent. The door will no longer open to welcome the children who loved him so much,” his colleague wrote.
