School attack / 17-year-old k*lls his homeroom teacher

A tragic event has shaken Russia, where a teacher lost her life after being stabbed by a 17-year-old student in the Perm region, in the Urals area.

The victim, Olesya Baguta, a Russian language and literature teacher at a school in Dobryanka, was seriously injured near the entrance of the school where she taught. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

According to regional governor Dmitry Makhonin, the teacher was attacked by a 17-year-old teenager, who was immediately arrested by the police. “Unfortunately, despite the doctors’ efforts, it was not possible to save her life,” Makhonin said a few hours after the incident.

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the victim was also the homeroom teacher of the class where the alleged attacker was a student, while the motives for the incident remain unclear. Russian authorities noted that this is one of several violent incidents reported in educational institutions since the beginning of the year, including other attacks with knives and weapons in various parts of the country.
