A 33-year-old Albanian man was wounded by Italian police after attempting to flee from officers.


Italian media report that the injured Albanian was forced to call an ambulance himself to receive medical assistance. The incident began in Valdarno, where three individuals, including the Albanian man, attempted to forcibly rob a residence. Inside the vehicle they abandoned, police found stolen goods and tools used for break-ins. After being pursued by police, all three ran in an attempt to escape.


The chase ended with gunfire, as a result of which the 33-year-old Albanian was shot in the shoulder. The injured man is currently hospitalized in Perugia, where he was transported by helicopter following initial treatment by the Monte San Savino White Cross ambulance. Italian authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
