Severe cold wave, thirteen victims in New York from hypothermia

The city of New York has recorded at least 13 deaths due to hypothermia, on the 11th day of a severe cold wave that hit the American metropolis.
To address the situation, municipal authorities mobilized a fleet of 20 vehicles with medical personnel, as well as emergency warming centers.
According to official statistics, between 2005 and 2021, New York City recorded between 9 and 27 cold-related deaths per year. This number rose to 34 in 2021 and to 54 in 2022.
